Richmond Services Reviews

Welcome to Richmond Services

Finding reliable local businesses shouldn't feel like guesswork. Whether you need a plumber at short notice, a decent curry house for Friday night, or a garage you can trust with your car, Richmond Services brings together genuine customer experiences from across Richmond upon Thames, Twickenham, Kingston and surrounding areas.

We launched in 2019 after one too many disappointing tradespeople left half-finished jobs in our own homes. What started as a spreadsheet shared among neighbours has grown into a community resource covering everything from builders and electricians to cafes, hairdressers and independent shops. Every review comes from real customers, and we verify contact details before publishing to keep things accurate.

How Our Reviews Work

We keep it straightforward. Customers rate businesses out of five stars across quality, value and reliability, then share what actually happened. No corporate jargon, no incentivised reviews, just honest accounts of whether someone would use that business again.

Before any review goes live, our small team checks the basics: Did this person actually use the service? Does their account match up with the business details? We're not trying to be Watchdog, but we do filter out the obviously fake stuff and anything that's just venting without substance.

  • Over 2,400 reviews covering 800+ local businesses
  • Categories include home services, restaurants, retail, automotive, health and beauty
  • Search by postcode, service type or business name
  • Report outdated information or suspicious reviews anytime

For Customers

Browse by category or search for something specific. Each listing shows the average rating, number of reviews, approximate pricing (when available) and contact details. Recent reviews appear first, but you can sort by rating or date if you prefer.

Writing a review takes about five minutes. We ask for the basics: what service you used, when, what went well and what didn't. You don't need to register or hand over personal details unless you want to track your own reviews later. If a business responds to your feedback, we'll notify you by email so you can continue the conversation if needed.

For Local Businesses

If someone's reviewed your business, you can claim your listing for free. This lets you respond to feedback, update your contact details and add basic information like opening hours or services offered. We don't charge for listings and we don't sell 'premium' placements that bump you up the rankings.

Some businesses worry about negative reviews, but in our experience, how you respond matters more than the occasional one-star rating. Customers understand that things go wrong sometimes. A polite, practical response to a complaint often builds more trust than a string of perfect scores.

We remove reviews that violate our guidelines: anything defamatory, fake, or that shares private information. If you think a review breaks the rules, contact us with specifics and we'll take a look within two working days.

Popular Categories

Home services remain our busiest section. Plumbers, electricians, builders, decorators, gardeners and cleaners attract the most searches, especially between April and September when everyone's thinking about home improvements. We also see steady interest in locksmiths and emergency repair services throughout the year.

Food and drink is a close second. Richmond's restaurant scene covers everything from Turkish grills along Kew Road to independent coffee shops in Twickenham. Our reviews reflect what actually matters to diners: portion sizes, whether bookings are honoured, how they handle allergies, and whether the place is worth the money.

Community Standards

This only works if people trust what they're reading. We don't allow business owners to write reviews for themselves or their competitors. We don't accept payment to remove negative reviews or boost positive ones. If someone tries either, we publish a notice on the business listing explaining what happened.

Reviewers should stick to facts. It's fine to say the plumber turned up three hours late or the meal was cold, but speculation about why or personal attacks aren't helpful. Swearing is fine if it reflects genuine frustration, but slurs and threats get removed immediately.

We're not here to settle legal disputes or replace formal complaints procedures. If something serious has gone wrong, trading standards or the relevant professional body is a better route than an online review.

About Our Team

Richmond Services is run by three people from a small office above a print shop in Twickenham. None of us come from tech or marketing backgrounds, which probably explains why the site looks fairly basic. One of us was a secondary school teacher, another worked in logistics, and the third spent years managing a hardware shop in Kingston.

We handle everything ourselves: checking reviews, updating listings, answering emails and keeping the site running. It's not glamorous, but it means we can keep the whole thing free and independent. We cover costs through a handful of small text ads from local businesses, nothing intrusive, no tracking, no data harvesting.
